About Us

About Company

At No.8 Workshop, we’re all about bringing old timber back to life.

No.8 Sustainable Workshop was born from a love of timber, a respect for heritage, and a drive to do things better — for people and the planet.

Based in Seaview, Lower Hutt, we’ve been working with native timber since 2013, crafting sustainable joinery, restoring doors and windows, and giving a second life to materials that deserve more than landfill.

As a small team with big values, we combine traditional techniquesmodern solutions, and a deep commitment to sustainability and community.

We’re not a factory line — we’re hands-on, heart-first makers who believe in doing the job properly.

Our Vision

To lead the way in eco-conscious restoration and joinery in Aotearoa — where every home can hold on to its character, every piece of timber gets a second chance, and every project makes a positive impact on both people and the planet.

Our Mission

To restore, create and preserve with purpose — crafting high-quality timber joinery that respects the past, improves the present, and protects the future.

Our Values

Wairuatanga (Spirituality)
We honour the cultural and spiritual connection to timber, especially native kauri. This guides us to work respectfully with nature and heritage.

Whanaungatanga (Family and Teamwork)
We’re a close-knit team that values respect, collaboration, and balancing work with life — working together to achieve great results.

Kaitiakitanga (Environmental Stewardship)
Caring for the environment is at our core. We use recycled native timber, minimise waste, and protect Aotearoa’s natural resources for future generations.

Manaakitanga (Care and Respect)
We build honest, respectful relationships with our customers, team, and community — creating a supportive and trustworthy environment.

Auahatanga (Innovation and Growth)
We embrace creativity and continuous learning to improve our craft and adapt to changing needs and technologies.

Why Choose Us?

Because your doors and windows deserve better than foam tape and a YouTube tutorial.

At No.8 Workshop, we mix old-school skills with modern tools to get things done right — with care, quality, and a good eye for detail. We don’t cut corners (unless we’re literally cutting corners to fit a sash).

Custom-tailored solutions

We create joinery that fits your home and your lifestyle. Every project is made to measure, with designs that respect the character of your house while adding modern comfort.

Expert craftsmanship

Our team combines traditional skills with today’s best tools. We know native timbers and heritage methods, and we take the time to do things right.

Premium quality

We choose materials that last and finishes that protect. From recycled native timber to double-glazed joinery, everything is made to stand the test of time.

Warranty and support

We stand by our work. Every project comes with honest advice, clear communication, and aftercare support so you can feel confident in your investment.
